Columbia Sweeps Calgary Freestyle World Cup
This last weekend in Alberta, 160 athletes gathered from around the globe to compete in the FIS Freestyle World Cup. We are proud to share 7 athletes from the Columbia-sponsored U.S. and Canadian teams made it to the winner’s podium. Can you say domination?
Canadian Mikael Kingsbury continued his streak by taking gold and is only one World Cup away from tying the men’s FIS World Cup record of six consecutive wins. Jeremy Cota of the U.S. took second, making it his first podium of the season. Unfortunately Sho Kashima injured his knee in a fall but still made it to the podium placing third.
In men’s, an additional four Americans and three Canadians made the final.
For the U.S., Bradley Wilson placed 8th; Patrick Deenan placed 11th; David Digravio placed 14th; and Joseph Discoe placed 15th. For the Canadian team, Marc-Antoine Gagnon placed fifth; Cedric Rochon placed 10th; and Pierre-Alexandre Rousseau placed 16th.
On the women’s side, Canadian Justine Dufour-Lapointe earned her fourth-straight silver medal while American Hannah Kearney continued her domination by winning gold. KC Oakley of the U.S. placed third making it her first podium.
Canadians Audrey Robichaud placed fourth in the super final, Chelsea Henitiuk was 8th and Chloe Dufour-Lapointe was 11th. Also making it to the finals from the American women’s team were Eliza Outtrim who was 10th, Heather McPhie who was 12th, and Brittany Loweree who was 13th.
Americans Emily Cook took 7th and Allison Lee placed 13th.
Canada’s Olivier Rochon took first in men’s and Jean-Christopher Andre of Canada placed 8th. Dylan Ferguson of the U.S. led the men’s in ninth place and Jonathan Lillis placed 12th in the World Cup Finals.
This last weekend was the last chance for Canadian and U.S. athletes to qualify for the FIS World Freestyle Championships this weekend in Deer Valley, UT. We want to give a big congrats to all the athletes and look forward to this weekend in Deer Valley.
