International Distributor Planning & Operations Team in Geneva helps Local Non-Profit with a day of Gathering, Cleaning & Sorting Donations
During the month of September, the International Distributor Operations & Planning team in Geneva partnered with Caritas to raise awareness for those in need and help create a new community involvement program for the Geneva office.
Caritas is a local non-profit organization, founded in 1942 that “helps people help themselves” regardless of race, religion, or political beliefs. Caritas has six second-hand stores in Geneva, and is very involved in the community — organizing fundraising, education programs, debt counseling and job opportunities within the local Caritas network. Caritas is also involved with local organizations all across Switzerland, and helps global humanitarian challenges as they arise, such as those stranded by floods in Bangladesh, the tsunami in Japan and the Earthquake in Haiti.
The Distributor Operations & Planning team helped raise awareness for Caritas by keeping a donation bin in the CSC Geneva office for 3 weeks, collecting over 1000kg of hard and soft goods. On September 15th, the Distributor Operations & Planning team spent the day at Caritas’ facilities in Geneva. They worked with their team collecting, sorting and cleaning truckloads of hard & soft goods including those they had donated and collected in the office. Team members also rode in the Caritas trucks helping pick up more donations, while others helped deliver goods to Caritas’ retail stores. At noon, we all came together and enjoyed a lunch we made together and enjoyed each others company in a social setting. We were able to share experiences and laughs with our new friends.
The team is looking forward to more opportunities to help with community involvement, creating awareness for individuals in need, and assisting in outdoor projects.
