Mid July Skiing
On July 14th my buddy and I headed down near Mammoth Lakes and skied the Bloody Couloir. This prominent line towers over Highway 395, and is visible from miles away. Luckily, its north facing, and it holds snow really well. Since it was July 14th, our expectations were low for the overall snow quality, and they were met with some pretty challenging skiing conditions. There’s probably better skiing up on Mt. Shasta, or even around here in Tahoe, but this little mission fit our schedules, and gave us the skiing fix we needed. It was a beautiful day out in the mountains, and it felt great to ski something steep and do some hiking.
