Chasing the Eclipse: Meet the Crew

If you’ve been following us on Facebook, you know that we are ‘Chasing the Eclipse‘ this summer.

And if you don’t know, then you’re missing out. Join our Facebook event and get weekly updates and tips about the eclipse.

If you’re unfamiliar with the eclipse, we will be experiencing the first total solar eclipse in North America since 1979. Basically, this is a big deal. You can read more about it here.

We will be experiencing the first total solar eclipse in North America since 1979.

The Columbia team will be chasing the eclipse and capturing it live to share with you all. We’ve partnered up with our friends at Travel Oregon and GoalZero to help us chase the eclipse. GoalZero will be powering us through a week of off-grid living while we hang out in the desert of Eastern Oregon and Travel Oregon will be co-hosting our monthly #OMNItalk and Instagram Challenge.

You can follow our adventures on Facebook and Instagram. But first, we’d like to introduce ourselves so you can get to know us a little better:

Michael Fields

Michael is our numbers guy. When he isn’t crunching numbers and totally crushing it, you can find him on the golf course or taking care of his beloved plants. He’s a certified plant dad and he’s not afraid to flaunt it.

If you want to follow Michael’s personal eclipse journey and his latest achievements on the golf course, follow him on Instagram:

Tyler Hansen

Tyler is our adventure filmmaker who has a passion for cinematic content. You can usually find him hiking a drone up a mountain, editing video in a dark cave, or riding his motorcycle around Sauvie Island in Portland.

If you want to follow his personal eclipse journey and lots of stunning shots of the PNW, follow him on Instagram:

Elizabeth Mackay

Elizabeth is our creator and dreamer. She was born in Scotland and raised in the U.S. She spent her formative years traveling, working and studying in five of the 10 Canadian provinces and the Yukon territory. When she’s without a keyboard or camera in hand, you can find Elizabeth at the closest taqueria or perfecting crow pose. She thinks music videos are a severely under-appreciated art form and can fit all of life’s necessities in a 45L backpack.

If you want to follow Elizabeth’s personal eclipse journey and stay up-to-date on the latest and greatest tunes, follow her on Instagram:

Claire Petras

Claire is our copy Queen and solar eclipse organizer. She’s making sure the whole crew is well-fed, on-time, and enjoying this once-in-a-lifetime event. When she’s not hanging out with her cats, Sirius and Lupin, she’s discovering new hiking trails, searching for the best brunch, or de-stressing in the yoga studio.

If you want to follow Claire’s personal eclipse journey and lots of adorable cat pictures (they’re cute, ok?), follow her on Instagram:

Alyssa Wetmore

Alyssa is our Instagram Queen. She’s slightly addicted to coffee and if you want to get on her good side, bring her a box of donuts. You can usually find her gawking over gorgeous photos on Instagram or taking a walk with her two husky pups, Kylo and Astro.

If you want to follow Alyssa’s personal eclipse journey and lots of cute dog pics, follow her on Instagram:
